The carbon frame and fork still use aerodynamically optimised tube shapes and a massively stiff bottom bracket and head tube for great power transfer, but by extending the rear-centre measurement and fork trail, stability and comfort have also been enhanced. This combination means less fatigue and more speed in the real world of varied road surfaces. To further widen the Caledonia’s remit, tyre clearance is 34mm and there are hidden mudguard mounts so that it can be enjoyed in all weather conditions. Complementing the frame’s abilities, Shimano’s Ultegra Di2 groupset also combines effortless high-performance electronic shifting with powerful disc brakes, both of which require just a light press or pull on the lever to operate, which is a godsend towards the end of a tough century ride when tired. The DT Swiss E1850 32 Spline wheels are tubeless-ready to make conversion simple and their shallow rim depth helps the handling when used in tricky crosswinds.
