Description
"An ultra-budget bike normally means poor tyres, shonky brakes, wonky wheels and way too much weight. Thankfully the Rivelin meets the low-cost challenge head on. The Rivelin is a good, solid bike at a great price, and has clearly been put together by a knowledgeable team"  Cycling  Plus, January 2016 The Calibre Rivelin Road Bike has been designed for relaxed riding and newcomers to road cycling - the emphasis very much on all-day comfort. At its core is its compact frame geometry, tweaked for a more upright riding position. Hand-welded with high quality lightweight aluminium tubing, it has subtly shaped seatstays that help dampen bumps and vibrations before they reach the saddle. It's not just about comfort, however. The lightweight tubing means faster acceleration and quicker climbing. An oversized downtube provides superb frame stiffness for efficient power transfer and a responsive ride. There is even a rear rack mount, making the bike an option for commuting and light touring. It's a great, versatile frame that is the foundation for an excellent all-round road bike. Complementing the frame is a carbon fibre fork which ensures razor-sharp handling and control, quickly and precisely transmitting every micro-adjustment you make into the bike. It also helps keep you fresh on long rides by soaking up annoying road buzz to combat upper-body fatigue while you hold the handlebars. Gearing comes courtesy of Shimano's excellent 8-speed Claris system with quick, smooth derailleurs and ergonomic, easy-to-use STI levers. A quality FSA chainset carries power efficiently from the pedals to the drivetrain with compact 50/34 tooth chainrings offering a wide range of easier gears for conquering hilly terrain. The wheels combine lightweight alloy rims with high quality hubs for efficient high speed performance. A double-wall rim construction is used for extra strength and resilience on rough roads and the semi-aero rim profile cuts through the wind to save you energy and boost your speed. Schwalbe's fast-rolling 23mm Lugano tyres provide excellent grip, comfort and durability for great year-round performance.
