Description
Calibre's Dune is a great value fat bikedesigned specifically to tackle UK trails, while still being a great choice for shredding across snow and sand. We've taken standard fat bike geometry and tweaked it for faster, more aggressive riding in normal UK trail conditions. The Dune frame realises this geometry with an incredibly light, strong aluminium frame with huge clearance for big tyres and lots of mud. Hand-welded throughout, it's an incredible frame that makes the most of fat tyres' natural suspension and deserves to be ridden hard. Weight is an issue since the wheels are so much wider than normal, which is why we use lightweight aluminium rims with cutout sections for even lower weight. Seated on these rims are a pair of Kenda Juggernaught Pro tyres*, one of the most popular fat tyres on the market and lighter than those used on the original incarnations of this stunning bike. Making these wheels spin is a 2x8 Shimano drivetrain with a wide-ranging 11-34T cassette providing a huge spread of gears for varied terrain and conditions. Shifting is smooth and responsive across the entire 16 gear range thanks to advanced technology trickled down through the years from Shimano's pro-level XTR systemPowerful Tektro HD-M290 mechanical disc brakes take care of stopping power with 160mm rotors front and back. The Calibre Dune slashes the pricetag while maintaining an incredible specification, giving you the perfect opportunity to get into fat biking and add another bike to your stable without breaking the bank. *Please note the images are for illustrative purposes only, the Dune Bike comes with Kenda Juggernaught Pro tyres and NOT Schwalbe Jumbo Jims as shown. Fat bikes are mountain bikes with huge 4-5" tyres run at very low pressures. They were originally designed for use in snow and sand where the big, low pressure tyres float on the surface, letting you ride in conditions when your tyres would normally sink and get stuck. Now people have realised that the big tyres provide a sort of natural suspension and that they are great fun to ride on normal trails in normal conditions too. The big wheels simply soak up bumps and roll over obstacles that might upset normal mountain bike wheels. The low pressure tyres also mean a unique, fluid riding style that is incredibly fun and unlike any other kind of mountain biking! That's the kind of riding that the Dune has been designed for.
