Description
Tasting Notes The only thing that could be better than lots of Caffarel's mini Gianduiotti is one enormous one. However enormously tempting it may be please don't try to put this Hazelnut Chocolate Pyramid in your mouth whole. Caffarel has been making chocolates in Turin from as far back as 1826 when Pier Paul Caffarel converted a small workshop into a chocolatier. Using the famed local Piedmont hazelnuts he blended them with chocolate and shaped them into the form of a small boat - inventing the now famous Gianduiotto. The name Gianduia came in 1865 when the local city mascot Gianduia handed out Gianduiotti to spectators of the Turin Carnival henceforth linking the name to the chocolate. The Gianduia are the only chocolates that are not machine shaped but are worked by extrusion in the traditional manner. The high concentration of hazelnuts creates a creamy confection that will melt on the tongue.
