The Holly tree, with its shiny, spiky, thick leaves and bright red berries, is one of the most beloved and respected trees in Celtic mythology. It is said to be the evergreen twin of the Oak and while the Oak controlled the light half of the year, the Holly tree controlled the dark, winter months. Due to its resistance to lightning, it has historically been associated with gods of thunder, and was often planted near dwellings to protect people from lightning strikes. Appreciated in the animal kingdom too, the Holly tree is often sought out by nesting garden birds, providing natural protection from predators. Hollies tend to get less attention from us humans in the Spring months, but their delicate, scented flowers are especially loved then by bees and butterflies. Handmade with 100% eco-friendly soy wax and sustainable beeswax-coated hemp wick, this beautiful, crimson bowl candle is infused with a red berry and holly fragrance oil which has a strong undertone of cedar, black raspberry, balsam and lemon peel.
