Sharing British roots with the theoretical physicist, the Henley on Thames watch manufacturer celebrates the legacy left behind by one of the world’s most famous scientists whilst celebrating its own 10th limited edition design. This 18ct white gold iteration from the Bremont Hawking watch collection is limited to just 88 pieces worldwide, a nod to the professor’s “Brief History of Time” science book published in 1988. It joins a ladies version, rose gold model and a steel timepiece. The dial of this white gold Bremont Hawking limited edition watch presents the time on a deep, dramatic blue backdrop. The retrograde small second indicator at 6 o’clock has been beautifully balanced by a grand date at 12 o’clock. Polished nickel hands have been treated with Bremont’s Super LumiNova coating, sitting against a swirled black hole inspired dial surface. The 100 meter water resistant case is fitted to a deep blue genuine alligator leather strap with a white gold pin buckle. Powering the hands around the dial is the modified calibre 11 1/2’’’ BE 33 AE which provides a 42 hour power reserve. Each limited edition number from the series is stamped upon an original seminal research paper co written by Hawking in 1979 and the case is inlaid with four pieces extracted from an antique desk at which Hawking used to sit upon. In addition to a piece of meteorite inlaid into the back of the case, the surface of the white gold caseback is also decorated by hand, depicting the formation of stars as they were seen above Oxford on the evening of Stephen Hawking’s birth in 1942.
