May Morris (1862­1938), daughter of William Morris, was renowned for her embroidery, with birds being a popular motif in her designs. The National Museum of Scotland includes a beautiful pair of hangings worked in wool and linen from c.1900, a joint work of May Morris and Theodosia Middlemore. A lovely counted cross stitch kit from Scotland to make a bookmark plus tassel, decorated with a design of Blue Tits and blossom.
