Description

Design House Stockholm Rug Grey Textile. Dimensions: 245 x 300. With the Basket rug, designer Lena Bergström pays homage to the traditional weaving technique for Swedish baskets made with strips of birch bark. The fabric bands reproduce the weft of the braiding. The Basket rug is completely handcrafted. The special technique of hand-tufting in different directions enhances the three-dimensional appearance. Several threads of slightly different colours create the desired lustre. The rug is then carefully cut by hand, in trompe-l'oeil fashion, using a graphic pattern that mimics the traditional weaving of Swedish baskets. Sharp angles and smooth transitions create a fascinating play of shadows and contrasts.
