Designer American husband-and-wife team Charles & Ray Eames are world renowned for their hugely influential modern designs across mediafurniture, architecture, graphics, & productsall characterized by a playful, clean aesthetic, which has proved highly accessible & enduring. Their work can be seen to parallel the evolution of postwar American design, from the rise of the West Coast to the global proliferation of American culture. Maker Swiss founders Willi & Erika Fehlbaum launched Vitra in 1934 as a shopfitting business in the Basel region, near the border of Germany & Switzerland. During a visit to America in 1953, the Fehlbaums became enamored with the innovative designs of Charles & Ray Eamesknown today for the iconic Eames Lounge Chair & Ottoman (1956). in 1957, Vitra obtained licensing rights to produce Herman Miller furniture for the European market & began to manufacture the work of Charles & Ray Eames, as well as George Nelsonfamous for the Pop Art-inspired Marshmallow Sofa (1956). For six decades, Vitra has been producing first-class furniture from iconic & internationally renowned designers & architects. Other famous designs in Vitra's collection include Isamu Noguchi's Noguchi Table (1939), Shiro Kuramata's How High the Moon Chair (1986), Borek Spek's Ota Otanek Chair (1988), Philippe Starck's Louis XX Stacking Chair (1992), & numerous patterns & textiles created by Alexander Girard. Vitra has also won countless design-related awards, such as the Lucky Strike Design Award in 1994, & their pieces can be found in design museums around the world, including the Tate Modern & Design Museum in London, Museum of Modern Art in New York, and, of course, Vitra Design Museum in Weil am Rhein. It contains plastic mesh seating, clear geometry & very balanced shape, solid design. Country of manufacture USA. Detailed Condition Chair is in a good condinion. There are some minor scratches on chrome frame. Plastic mesh is in excelent condition. Size Chair measurements are: Width 20 inch, Depth 22 inch, Height 31 inch, Seat Height 18 inch. Color The color of supporting structure is grey & the soft mesh seating part comes in deep grey. Materials The structure is made from chromed stainless steel. Segmented seating is covered in plastic mesh.
