Versatile, strong, and lightweight, the Atomic Backland 98W a freeridebackcountry touring ski The Backland series from Atomic their ski touring focused range, a collection of ultralight and sturdy skis specifically designed for endurance ski touring and mountaineering missions. The Backland 98 Women a backcountry touring ski that floats in powder with ease but also maintains a lightweight chassis to scale epic climbs. It features a Powder Rocker profile to offer great agility and floatation in backcountry conditions. Whilst the Dura Cap sidewalls help to control power transmission and provide excellent grip, the Backland 98W can hold its own on fresh groomers as well. Even with a slimmer waist width than other touringfreeride setups, the Backland 98W can still hold its own in the deep stuff thanks to Atomics HRZN Tech Tip. This adds 10 more surface area to the tip of the ski for better floatation and better tracking through chopcrud. The construction of the ski consists of an ultra-light wood core that blends Poplar and Caruba wood to keep the weight low without compromising downhill performance. A Carbon Backbone also added to boost torsional strength. This a carbon insert that runs the length of the ski helping stability, strength, and agility.
