Companion animal of Athena the Goddess of reason and revered in antiquity as the personification of wisdom the owl was a popular motif in Ancient Greek Art. This stylised piece is based on a votive offering 510 BC from the Altes Museum Berlin. Base inscribed with "Wisdom begins in wonder " Socrates.Ceramic.5"x 2¾"x 2".
