Longines Watch Weems Second Setting Mens. L2.713.8.11.0. Inspired by the invention of Captain Philip van Horn Weems, a pioneer of navigation who was assigned to the Navy to teach Charles Lindbergh navigation with the use of stars, this extraordinary Longines Weems Second Setting Mens watch reinterprets a historic model from Longines’ archives designed in collaboration with Weems in 1929. Just like the original pilots watch, this modern-day Longines Weems watch synchronizes the second hand with the use of radio signals ensuring incredibly high precision, something essential for use in the cockpit where even the minutest of errors can lead to wrong calculations.. The powerhouse of the Longines Weems Second Setting Mens watch is the L699 automatic winding movement, a Swiss made calibre with a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour, 46 hour power reserve and 24 jewels. A white lacquered polished dial presents the central hands for hours, minutes and seconds alongside an internal rotating silvered dial for the synchronisation of the seconds hand with a radio time signal and a rotating bezel to adjust daily variations of the equation of time. Inspired by its historic counterpart, the dial delivers painted Roman numerals and blue steel hands housed beneath scratch resistant sapphire crystal glass treated with an anti-reflective coating. The Longines Weems Second Setting watch continues to impress with a 47.5mm 18 carat rose gold case, brown alligator leather strap, onion-shaped crown and transparent case back assisting in a water resistant rating of 30 metres.
