The polyurethane coated outer resists water ingress and thermo-taped seams prevent water seeping in over time. The elasticated upper cuff gives a close fit around the leg and with silicone inside water is kept out for longer. Lastly, the waterproof zipper makes slipping them on and off easier and provides a secure seal against the elements.
