Description
The C60 was developed during 2 years of both CFD analysis and windtunnel testing. Many different shapes, combined with different tire models and sizes culminated in this rim shape, the best we could do. That sounds normal, but what happened next wasn’t. As soon as the C60 was finished, we started working on the next generation. But whatever we tried, we couldn’t improve on the C60 shape. Even with much larger tires (up to 40mm with knobby tires), we couldn’t find a shape better than the C60. Of course we don’t accept that we can never do better than the Discus C60, we will keep trying, but until then, we’re confident these wheels will surprise you as positively as they do us. Rim Details Aero rim profile: The C60 aero shape is the result of countless windtunnel tests and CFD analysis. Optimized for the 0-10 degree yaw angle range, it is focused on going fast. At the same time, the profile has a very stable side force curve, so changes in cross winds won’t affect your steering much. Offset spokes: The C60 rim is symmetrical for the best aerodynamics, but the spokes are laced at an offset from the centerline to allow the spoke angle to be more equal left and right. This compensates for the space required for the brake rotor (and in the case of the rear wheel, the cassette). Hidden nipples: To squeeze the last few percent of performance out of the C60, we use our own nipple design. Our wide-angle nipples don’t just hide in the rim, they also have a proprietary head that makes them much easier to adjust even with the spoke offset from the rim’s center. Hub Details Straight pull design: Straight pull spokes are stronger and lighter. They are more expensive due to the extra effort in machining the hubs, but it’s well worth the investment to ensure that spoke breakage is all but eliminated. Multi-axle: Our hubs are compatible with 5mm quick releases, 12mm thru axles and even with a 15mm front thru axle. Just swap out the end caps depending on the frame design you use the wheels in. Multi-freehub: The rear hub comes standard with a 10/11s Shimano/SRAM freehub body. 3T retailers have Campagnolo & SRAM xD bodies available as spares and can switch them out in minutes.
