Description
Woman's elbow-length sleeved tunic with stitched pleats in a pure cotton Ikat weave. Round neckline closes with a teardrop and button at back. Pleats at the sleeve caps. Straight sleeves on a full fitting style. Stitched pleats on the front bib. Ikat is an artisanal dying and weaving technique: before weaving, skeins of threads are tied and dyed by hand. When woven, the colour differences in the threads create characteristic geometric motifs. The irregularity of the manual dying and the thread placement mean each piece of fabric and so each tunic is unique.
