Description

Egon Schiele's 'Seated Woman With Legs Drawn Up' is a 1917 portrait of Adele Herms. This colourful reproduction is printed in the UK on 300gsm textured paper with a solid ash frame, hand-finished with a white wash. It's glazed and ready to wall-mount with fittings at the back of the frame.

A protégé of fellow Austrian artist Gustav Klimt, Egon Schiele was born on 12 June 1890 in Tulln an der Donau, Austria. He studied at the Kunstgewerbeschule (School of Arts and Crafts) in Vienna, where Klimt had once studied, as well as the Akademie der Bildenden Künste in Vienna. He was later mentored by Klimt. An early exponent of Expressionism, his figurative paintings and self-portraits are known for their intensity, raw sexuality and unapologetic honesty, often using bright colour. Aged only 28, he died in 1918 when the Spanish flu pandemic reached Vienna.
