Background Few designs have the legendary status and universal appeal of the Rolex Submariner. Its robust and functional design swiftly became iconic and the latest generation of Submariner is firmly in line with the original model launched in 1953. Made to survive even the most demanding conditions, the Submariner is designed with the deep-sea diver in mind. In the 1940s, the renowned French naval explorer, scientist and filmmaker Jacques Cousteau had perfected his Aqua-Lung, a scuba device allowing for deeper and longer dives. Cousteau had tested several timepiece prototypes for Rolex, resulting in the Submariner perfectly complemented his latest innovation. Today, the Submariner model tolerates depths up to 300 metres (1,000 feet). While Cousteau sported the watch mainly because of its functionality, the Submariner quickly became a favourite of mavericks on dry land. It has been worn by style icons such as Sean Connery and Steve McQueen, proving the watch is not only at home in the oceans but still one of the most collectible and desired watches in the world. TBlack Customisation Submariner Heritage is a customisation of a Rolex Non-Date Submariner (reference 114060). Limited to 25 pieces, the Submariner Heritage has a bespoke vintage-style heritage dial in black with beige hour markers and red second hand. The bezel is rotatable, the watch has an automatic movement and a durable sapphire crystal glass. The watch is water resistant to 300m / 1,000ft and completed with TBlackÂ’s signature DLC coating.
