Description
Taken from an exquisitely expressive sepia penandink drawing c.1646 of the Angel of the Annunciation by Italian Master Giovanni Francesco Barbieri (1591–1666), known as Il Guercino. The drawing is likely to be a study for his Annunciation Altarpiece for Santa Maria Maggiore, Pievo di Cento and is now in the collection of the Royal Library at Windsor.
