Originating in ancient Rome, cranberrycoloured glass created by the addition of gold chloride to molten glass was revived in the 17th century by the Florentine glassmaker Antonio Neri. The richly coloured glass remained fashionable throughout the 19th century. Elegant set of 6 glasses recalling pieces from the period.
