Today, Windows 10 S customers can download Office from the Windows Store. There is no charge at the time of download. The customer receives the unlicensed first-run experience that comes with new PCs, providing options to start a trial, purchase through microsoftstore.com, or activate an existing copy of Office. This path will be available to all Windows 10 customers in mid-October as another way to install Office. This is parallel to and complimentary to existing channels likeoffice.com/setup. Surface Laptop comes with 1-year of Office 365 Personal in preview through October 15th. What happens on October 15th? October 15th 2017 is the customer-facing end of the free preview. All customers who have activated their Office 365 Personal subscription keep their 1-year subscription. Customers who activate Windows by October 31st have 180 days from Windows activation to redeem their 1-year subscription. Customers who activate Windows after October 31st will not see the preview offer, and will instead see options to start a trial, purchase through microsoftstore.com, or activate an existing copy of Office. Please Note: The 31/10 change will be made on our servers. Customers will see consistent experiences across devices, regardless of when that devices was manufactured.
