Description
Authorized for Navy Use (ANU) was a list of approved equipment that could be used during World War II for US Frogmen. Any items not included on this list were simply not up to the task, and you could not rely on it to function correctly during critical periods of combat. The frogmen of World War II evolved in the 1960's to become the US Navy Seals, but the ANU list still remains to give security that the items authorized for navy use are up to the task at hand. The Luminox ANU 4220 Series features a matte black ion plated stainless steel case, making it hard to spot by enemies. Protecting the dial is a sapphire crystal, with anti-reflective coating, doubling in its purpose to make sure the dial is never obscured by reflections, and also to help it remain undetected. Inside is a reliable Swiss Quartz movement, offering unbeatable accuracy. The case is water resistant to 200 metres, with screw down crown and case back, as well as a diver's unidirectional rotating bezel. One of the key needs of the Navy Seal is the ability to read the time, without giving away their position with a backlight or flash. This is achieved using gas light tubes on the hands, markers and top mark of the bezel. In low light conditions, these provide fantastic illumination for the wearer, and do not fade or require charging under light like luminova materials. This glow will continue to operate for up to 25 years.
