Kin welcomes back textile designer Laura Slater for SS18, combining her modernist prints with oversized yet feminine silhouettes and sportswear influenced shapes for another Limited Edition collection. A full midi skirt with added pleating for volume, this skirt from our Kin by John Lewis limited edition is adorned with a 'minimal modernist' print designed by textile designer Laura Slater. It features popper detail down the sides and hidden pockets. Following a summer travelling through California, this seasons print story has been inspired by Modernist desert architecture. This concept has been translated through exploring the layering of sequenced graphic shapes, textured linear detail and repeat block printed pattern, in a primary-bright palette. Composition and scale all play an integral role in the final collection of which, much has been developed through working directly with the garment shapes as a canvas for pattern placement. - Laura Slater
