The large running deck is powered by a near gym spec 2.25 horse power motor for long smooth runs and will peak at 2.5HP for those 20KPH home sprints. The running mat is a real joy for those used to road or track running. The deck incline is fully motorised giving 20 levels of motorized incline either from one of the selection buttons or as part of many of the 25 built in programs. This is a folding treadmill, so the deck lifts to an almost upright position for compact storage. The deck damping strut helps hold the deck during the lift and ensures a smooth hands free decent. Controls are where this model steals the show. Behind the scenes is a profession fitness computer controlling and monitoring all operations. You are given a extra-large clear display which simultaneously shows duration, speed, distance, incline, calories, pulse and any program selected. The centre of the screen has digital speedo dial so you instantly see you current speed and any target speed change like gym based models. Below the display are new bigger clearer buttons to easily make basic selections even with sweaty hands. In the middle is a big red emergency stop button as well as the obligatory safety stop tether. The pulse meters are built into both hand grips which also have easy reach speed and incline control buttons. Once on you can manually select speed and incline, or choose a countdown of either time or distance or calories, or choose from one of 25 tailorable pre-set programs. The programs come in 6 groups; walking, jogging, short/middle/long distance runner and lady exerciser. The console also hosts a couple of other often overlooked practicalities. There are two generous water bottle holders that can be removed and built in stereo speakers either side. The audio jack next to the display will connect with the cable included to headphone sockets of iPods, iPhones, Android phones and most other MP3 players.
