Description
John Lewis & Partners + It's All Good Folk Wear it out A collaboration available exclusively at John Lewis & Partners, It's All Good Folk celebrates a shared commitment to inspiring design, responsibly produced. This is fashion made to last. A favourite of petty officers of the British and Dutch navy back in the 19th century, little has changed from the original peacoat design from oh-so-many years ago. But that doesn't means improvements can't still be made. Understated but still punctuated with alternative accents that make the brand's pieces so easily identifiable, Folk has managed to balance archival style with a modern approach to production with their take on the classic peacoat. Putting function first, the notch lapel collar and double-breasted close keep true to the jacket's roots as a durable, stable shield against the weather. Lined jetted pockets at the side and breast also nod to its functional heritage as a saviour when the wind chill bites, with the utilitarian length carefully considered for everyday functionality. But its how Folk have chosen to adapt and personalise the design when its character really starts to develop. Spun in Portugal from recycled fibres sourced from France, its outer shell has been fashioned using post-consumer waste materials to reflect the brand's commitment to pieces with longevity. The contrast lining, apart from extending the jacket's lifespan, also helps you create a more defined silhouette. The extra layer of cloth helps tug the garment firmly down over your shoulders, making it fall smoothly from top to bottom and shaping the jacket over your torso as the designer's intended. And of course, it wouldn't be a piece from Folk without their heritage panel detailing across the back hip. Instantly recognisable and sustainably produced, we'll be wearing ours at the first sight of frost in the later months of the year.
