Extra Large Travel Trunk Dated circa 1950s this Overpond style timber foundation travel trunk makes an excellent storage chest, blanket box or coffee table for the contemporary home. Synonymous with the Australian & transatlantic migrations from Europe, these spacious, sturdy cases were perfect for steamship travel. This example has been refinished in deep charcoal grey. On close inspection, a faint shadow of block lettering to the outer lid can be barely read: H M B Rhodes - a previous owner. All brass fittings in working order excluding central catch which does not have the locking mechanism intact. Side handles are complete & weight bearing. The capacious interior has its original paper lining Working, clip shut clasps. Very good condition & clean interior.
