Description
Tissue paper, invented in the 1850s, was the first popular choice for wrapping gifts; with red, white and green being the most common colours in the late 19th century. The first printed wrapping paper is credited to American brothers Joyce Clyde and Rollie Hall, who, having sold out of tissue paper in 1917, began printing their own heavier weight papers in 1919; going on to found what became Hallmark stationery. Bursting with the bonhomie of Christmas past, a delightful montage blends late19th century and early20th century printed ephemera in this delightful wrapping paper design.
