2016 saw an unusually high level of solar activity resulting in spectacular displays of the aurora borealis across the Northern hemisphere. This is also known as the Northern Lights. This image was taken at Chocorua Lake, New Hampshire USA; the still water brightly reflected the most intense Northern Lights that this part of the United States had experienced in more than a decade.
