Born in London’s East End in 1914, the day after World War I broke out, Abram Games grew up to be one of the most innovative graphic designers of the twentieth century. The governmental posters he designed during World War II remain some of the most recognisable images of wartime Britain. His striking commercial posters and straightforward aesthetic embody the artist’s modernist design philosophy of ‘maximum meaning, minimum means’, spanning six decades of social history.
