The "Clementine" design harks back to the firm"s roots in the 1860s when its founder Arthur Sanderson began his interiors business importing luxury French wallpapers some of which echoed the fashion for Chinese papers depicting birds amidst trees and blossom. Reinvented and refocused for a British market the company developed machineprinted papers in the 1880s becoming accessible to a wider mix of clientele and soon synonymous with English interior style.Blank.6 ½" x 4 ½".
