Description
The British Library & The British Museum Atmospheric studies of British landscape and weather by J. M. W. Turner (17751851) and John Constable (17761837), now in the collections of the British Museum and British Library; including Turner"s watercolours of Weathercote Cave c.1818 and Malham Cove, Yorkshire, c.1810, alongside a study of clouds and trees, probably made at Hampstead in 1821, and Stonehenge, c. 18201836 by Constable. Constable is noted as one of the earliest artists to seek to represent atmospheric and weather effects accurately; he stayed near Hampstead for many Summers, studying and making sketches of the skies over London.
