Description
The British Library & The British Museum Atmospheric studies of British landscape and weather by J. M. W. Turner (1775­1851) and John Constable (1776­1837), now in the collections of the British Museum and British Library; including Turner"s watercolours of Weathercote Cave c.1818 and Malham Cove, Yorkshire, c.1810, alongside a study of clouds and trees, probably made at Hampstead in 1821, and Stonehenge, c. 1820­1836 by Constable. Constable is noted as one of the earliest artists to seek to represent atmospheric and weather effects accurately; he stayed near Hampstead for many Summers, studying and making sketches of the skies over London.
