Museum Selection 10 Willow & Maple Hanging Scroll Cards
Description
The British Museum Luxurious cards, with delicate gold foil highlighting details within each design. Reproducing a pair of finely painted, Edo period hanging scrolls from the collection of the British Museum. Painted by Japanese artist Itaya Keishu Hiromasa (172997) c.177781 the scrolls represent the four seasons. Symbolising spring the willow tree is depicted with swallows and birds of paradise; below, the grass, peonies and perched kingfisher suggest summer. The companion scrollÂ’s maple tree and horned owl symbolises autumn while the distant snowcovered mountains and pines suggest winter.
