Museum Selection 10 Time for Tea Cards
Description
A delightful diecut card with pretty gold foil details. Adapted from a gilt and embossed illustration on a German greetings card c.1890s. Traditionally, tea was drunk from bowls, with handles only added in the early 18th century. Some credit the German alchemist Johann Friedrich Böttger (16821719) with making the innovation of handles possible as his invention of hardpaste porcelain created more durable ceramics. Previously, hot water had tended to make the softer ceramics available shatter and snap. Made exclusively for Museum Selection.
